A few years back I drew 50 swords and made “Dyson’s Book of Swords” (available from Squarehex). Then I started on a project to try to draw 50 axes and it just didn’t stick. But I’m trying to draw more things, so here’s Axe #18.
A ridiculous and unwieldy axe made to resemble the foul-tempered flightless grassland axebeaks, this hand axe +1 deals an additional +2 damage to creatures touching the ground (anything not in flight, effectively – it seems to work fine against those mounted on land-based vehicles and animals as well, even those standing on the deck of a boat). The target must save vs spells or be unable to take flight for the next hour through natural or magical means.
